About me

Hi, I’m Atalanta. I’m an Oxfordshire-based professional freelance editor, with sixteen years’ publishing experience under my belt.

I work on arts and humanities and social sciences education, commercial and literary fiction, and trade nonfiction publishing. I also help individual clients with their writing, marketing copy, reports, websites and such. It’s a rich and varied editorial life, and that’s exactly how I like it. If I can transform your writing and we’re a good fit, I’m all in.

I’m an Advanced Professional Member of the Chartered Institute of Editing & Proofreading (CIEP) and I abide by their code of practice. I’m also a member of BookMachine.

Background

Most editors will tell you they love books and they love reading. Guess what? I do too. I landed my first bookish job in a second-hand and antiquarian bookshop in Oxford, way back in 199…something.

I then worked in-house at Macmillan Education and Taylor & Francis while studying for my PhD in Book History.

I got bitten by the freelance bug when I worked at Macmillan Education and I established my editorial business in 2006.

I’m a published non-fiction author (under Dr Atalanta Myerson), and I’ve written for ‘The Book Collector’, The History of the Book, and The History of Oxford University Press.
